Hong Kong Disneyland has reopened to the public. Most of Hong Kong Disneyland’s attractions, shopping and dining locations have resumed operations. The availability of attractions and entertainment can be checked on Hong Kong Disneyland’s official website and app.
The park is running with reduced capacity and enhanced health and safety procedures. All guests entering the park are required to undergo a temperature screening. Any guest with a temperature of 37.5°C or above may not enter. Guests are required to wear a face mask, except when eating or drinking inside restaurants. Social distancing markers are being implemented in ride queues and restaurants. High-contact areas are being frequently sanitized and disinfected. Hand sanitizer is available around the park.
Close-up interactions and photos with characters are temporarily suspended. Character experiences that can accommodate social distancing will be available throughout the park.
Guests must reserve tickets online, ahead of the date they want to visit. Guests are required to make a health declaration as part of the Hong Kong Disneyland reservation system.
The Matterhorn Bobsleds ride was refurbished and reopened in June 1978. The interior of the mountain was filled in with more icy decor, and Abominable Snowman figures were added.
Yesterday I went to Universal Orlando for a passholder preview. Masks are currently required unless eating or drinking. The parks are open to the public today, June 5.
I arrived at the parking garage around 8:30 am. First there were temperature checks, and then I went through security. Those lines were less than a minute long each, and went smoothly for me.
I made it to City Walk and decided to walk past the park entrances. The time on my ticket to go into the park was 10 am.
I went to the Universal Studios store in City Walk. They had retro Universal Studios merchandise in honor of its 30th anniversary.
They also had merch for the Bourne Stuntacular stunt show. I’m hoping this show will open when the stage shows resume operation in the parks.
I sat outside Islands of Adventure trying to get a virtual line pass for Hagrid’s ride. I couldn’t get it to work, but luckily someone DMed me on Twitter asking if I wanted their reservation! I was so excited and thanked them for this opportunity. The pass was good for two people, so I decided to find someone who wanted to go on the ride.
I went into Islands of Adventure at 9:45 am. I walked toward Hagrid’s. I posted on the Universal passholder Facebook page that I had an extra spot for Hagrid’s. A girl named Lauren DMed me and she found me in the line.
We rode Hagrid’s and it was lightly raining. Lauren was able to book a virtual line pass for Hagrid’s. We were in line for Flight of the Hippogriff when the rain started pouring. We decided to leave the line, so we went to Honeydukes. Lauren bought some fudge flies and peppermint toads and generously shared some with me. Her virtual pass for Hagrid’s became a virtual pass good for the whole day.
At 11:50 am, we went on the Caroseussel since the line was so short. Then we went on the Spider-Man ride around 12:15 pm. We walked past the track of the new roller coaster being built in the Jurassic Park area. We decided to take the Hogwarts Express over to Universal Studios.
Around 1:20 pm, we mobile ordered food from Louie’s restaurant. We got free Coca Cola freestyle cups with free refills for the day. I got cheese pizza and she got pasta. Her pasta took a while to be delivered so a team member offered us free dessert! We thanked him and got free tiramisu. When we left the restaurant, it had finally stopped raining.
We both had virtual line passes for The Mummy, so we rode it twice. Then we used the standby line for Race Through New York. It took about 10 minutes to get to the ride. When we exited the building, we saw Hashtag the Panda waving from an upper floor. Since it was raining most of the day, I didn’t see any other characters.
Next, we went on Men in Black around 3:55 pm. We sat in the front of our vehicle and nobody was behind us.
We took the Hogwarts Express back to Islands of Adventure at 4:30 pm. The parks were going to close at 5pm. We arrived in time to use the virtual line pass on Hagrid’s. After the ride, we got butterbeer and started walking out of the park.
We stopped at Voodoo Donut and waited about 35 minutes in line. I got a double chocolate cake donut. Then it was time for me to drive home.
Here’s a list of the pros and cons of my passholder preview day:
Pros: Team members were happy to be back, ride queues were spaced, hand sanitizer at every ride, and a free cup with lunch.
Cons: Some rides were closed and I only saw one character due to rain, no stage shows yet, virtual lines were difficult to book, and mobile ordering and spaced seating created longer lines for food.
