A Day at Epcot – August 10, 2020

On August 10, I visited Epcot for the first time since March.

First, I went on Spaceship Earth. Then I traded a pin at the board set up near the pin store.

Next, I went to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. I spent some time in the aquarium seeing the manatees, dolphins, fish, and a sea turtle.

I walked over to The Land and went on Soarin’. I was in the front row and spaced away from the next group.

I went on Living with the Land next, and I got a seat in the front row again.

I went on Figment next. I saw Winnie the Pooh walking on the grass next to the ride.

Next I went to the World Showplace, which has several stations selling food. I got the gourmet mac and cheese and the Twix cake pop. They were both really good!

After eating, I continued walking through World Showcase. In France, there is a topiary of Remy from Ratatouille.

When I was walking through Germany, I saw the Princess Promenade go by. Aurora, Jasmine, and Snow White were riding in the carriage.

I rode the Gran Fiesta Tour in Mexico after a wait of about 5 minutes.

Next, I went on Test Track. The posted wait time was 25 minutes, but I ended up waiting about 50 minutes in line because the cars needed to be cleaned.

I waited about 5 minutes for the green mission on Mission Space. I got a whole flight to myself and I was the pilot.

Over by the Mouse Gear gift shop, there are topiaries of Flower, Bambi, and Flower.

I took a ride on the Skyliner to Caribbean Beach and back to Epcot. I enjoyed seeing the construction of the the new Ratatouille ride in France.

I continued walking around the World Showcase, and saw Elsa and Anna from Frozen.

In China, I stopped by the Shanghai Disneyland exhibit and watched Reflections of China.

Next, I walked to Norway and went on Frozen Ever After. I waited in line for about 30 minutes. I sat in the front row, and another group sat in the back row.

I went back The Seas to wander through the aquarium again. Then I decided it was time to leave for the day. I left the park around 7 pm and drove home. Not long after, there was a big lightning storm!

Overall, I had a great day at Epcot. Everyone that I saw was wearing a mask, unless they were eating. The park wasn’t very busy compared to usual. The World Showcase walkway was the only place where I found it harder to stay distanced from others. The Food and Wine Festival has a lot of great options. There was hand sanitizer all over the park and several hand washing stations.

Cast Member Preview at Hollywood Studios – July 14, 2020

On Tuesday I went to a cast member preview of Hollywood Studios with my boyfriend Jarod and a friend of ours. I wore a Baby Yoda mask that Jarod bought at Disney Springs.

We got in line for parking around 9:15 am. We made it inside and through security by 9:50 am.

Our first ride of the day was Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The wait time was posted at 20 minutes, but we basically walked on.

Next, we went to Toy Story Land. We rode Slinky Dog Dash with no wait time!

Next we rode Toy Story Mania. Jarod beat my score, but I had better accuracy.

We walked over to Galaxy’s Edge. We went to Dok Ondar’s and the marketplace. We went to Oga’s Cantina and got a reservation for 6:35 pm. Then we ordered lunch from Docking Bay 7. I got my usual, the Felucian Garden Spread.

Next, we went on Smuggler’s Run. They weren’t handing out the assignment cards. I was a gunner.

Next, we got in line for Rise of the Resistance. There was no wait time posted on the app. The line went into the Muppets queue and backstage, and then back into the Rise area. There was plexiglass indoors, and the First Order officers reminded guests to be socially distanced. From getting in line to exiting, it took 2 hours.

We saw Chewbacca and Rey and then First Order stormtroopers as we walked around.

We rode Smuggler’s Run again. This time we had to wait about 20 minutes in line. I was the left pilot. I was able to hit the Millennium Falcon’s brakes on time during the ride, which felt like a big achievement.

Next, we walked down Sunset Boulevard. Jarod and I went on Rock n Roller Coaster two times in a row. The line only took a few minutes both times. Then we ate at Rosie’s for dinner. I ate the fried tomato sandwich and French fries.

We walked through the Walt Disney Presents exhibit and then went back to Toy Story Land. We rode Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers.

We went back to Galaxy’s Edge for our reservation at Oga’s Cantina. Our group was called at 6:45 pm. We were seated at a table and I got the Fuzzy Tauntaun drink.

At 7:45, I had one last look at the shops before the park closed. Here are some pros and cons of my day overall.

Pros: Shorter wait times for rides, seeing characters in Galaxy’s Edge, and Smuggler’s Run only allows as many in your party.

Cons: Longer lines and more crowded walkways than Magic Kingdom, no stage shows made the park feel half empty, and some gift shops and Savi’s Workshop are closed.

Passholder Preview at Magic Kingdom – July 9, 2020

I went to an annual passholder preview of Magic Kingdom on July 9, 2020. Walt Disney World is currently requiring masks, social distancing, and temperature screenings for all guests. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom opened to the public today (Park Pass reservations required).

Parking was probably my longest wait of the day – it took me about 35 minutes to get through the line and into a parking space. After the temperature check and metal detectors, I took the ferry boat over to the entrance of Magic Kingdom. My AP card was scanned, no fingerprint needed. I grabbed a map and headed down Main Street at 8:50 am.

First I stopped at Main Street Bakery. I got the new iced guava passion fruit drink, and I thought it was delicious!

I took photos in front of Cinderella Castle. It has a new pink and blue color scheme!

By 9:01 am, I was in line for Jungle Cruise. The benches on the boats have plexiglass between them. I rode with only one other group because it was so early.

Next, I went on Pirates of the Caribbean. Walking right onto the ride was awesome! Once again, there was only one other group on the boat with me.

I went on Splash Mountain. The line took about 10 minutes. There were plenty of markers on the ground to keep the groups spaced. As I exited, I saw a long line for the gift shop.

At 10 am, I saw Tinkerbell moving through Frontierland. I walked over to Liberty Square and rode The Haunted Mansion.

Next, I went on it’s a small world. The line took about five minutes and was very spaced.

I walked back to Main Street USA and bought two masks at the Emporium. I saw a trolley go by with Rabbit, Piglet, and Eeyore!

I headed to Tomorrowland and went on Buzz Lightyear. I’m still very bad at shooting the targets. Next, I went on Space Mountain, with only a few groups waiting in front of me.

At 11:23 am, I walked over to Storybook Circus. I went on Dumbo first, and then The Barnstormer. I could see construction for the Tron ride from the Barnstormer queue.

Next, I rode The Little Mermaid and Mad Tea Party. I mobile ordered lunch at Cosmic Ray’s and sat down to eat at noon. It was nice to take a break in the air conditioning.

After lunch, I rode Tomorrowland Speedway, Winnie the Pooh, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

At 1:15 pm, I rode Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Then I went to Philharmagic and Peter Pan’s Flight.

I ordered a Dole Whip from Aloha Isle and headed toward Main Street USA. At 2:44 pm, I watched the The Royal Princess Processional featuring Merida riding Angus the horse, and more Disney princesses on a float! Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother said, “Welcome back!”

Next, I rode Big Thunder Mountain, which had a 20 minute wait. I watched the Fantasyland Friends Cavalcade and was very happy to see Mary Poppins. Next, I went back to Adventureland and walked through the Swiss Family Treehouse. I went to the Enchanted Tiki Room and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.

At 4 pm, I walked back to Tomorrowland and rode the Carousel of Progress. I rode Space Mountain again, and I was the only person in my rocket! For my last ride of the day, I went on Astro Orbiter.

As I was walking toward the castle at 4:43 pm, I saw the Mickey and Friends Cavalcade. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Daisy were on a float.

I ended my day by doing a loop on the monorail, then taking the ferry boat back to the TTC. I had a fun day and I appreciate all the cast members who made everything possible! Here are some pros and cons of my day overall.

Pros: Short wait times for attractions, I saw a lot of characters, mobile ordering food was efficient, and cast members were enforcing spacing in queues and making sure guests were wearing masks.

Cons: The temperature was very hot, no parking lot trams, no fireworks or stage shows, and some food and merchandise locations were still closed.
