My First Day as a Disney Passholder

I recently got a weekday annual pass for Walt Disney World. I purchased the pass online, then picked up my card at Disney Springs. For my first visit as a passholder, I decided to go to Animal Kingdom. The weather was great – it was cloudy and cool and slowly warmed up.

I got to Animal Kingdom around 11 AM. I parked in the giraffe lot and took the tram to the entrance. When I got into the park, I took the train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. I decided to get in line for The Animation Experience. It’s a quick drawing class where you get to draw an animal Disney character.

Our instructor was named Mike. We drew Bruce the shark from Finding Nemo. It took about 30 minutes to complete and I had a lot of fun. Next, I rode Expedition Everest with a FastPass. Then I went through the animal trails in Asia and Africa.

For lunch, I ate at Harambe Market. I got the roasted vegetable bowl and lemonade.

After lunch, I rode Kilimanjaro Safari. There were several giraffes and hippos out. One giraffe had a stick hanging out of its mouth. We saw one male lion sleeping.

Next, I walked over to Pandora to ride Flight of Passage. The line was about an hour long. It was about 4:45 PM when I left the park. I had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to have more adventures at Disney World!

5 Fun Attractions in Orlando That Aren’t Theme Parks

Orlando is known for its theme parks, but there are so many other attractions that people can enjoy. Here are 5 fun places to visit whether you’re a tourist or a local.

https://www.visitorlando.com/en/things-to-do/sports-and-recreation-outdoors/spirit-of-the-swamp-airboat-rides/37020Source:

1. Airboat rides

Kissimmee airboat rides are a great way to see the wildlife of Orlando. I saw lots of birds and several alligators on an airboat tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the lake, and told us that winter is best for spotting alligators sunning themselves.

2. Miniature golf

Mini golfing is a popular activity for families visiting Orlando. Disney has two places to play mini golf, Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens. CityWalk has Hollywood Drive-In mini golf. Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, Bonanza Golf, Mighty Jungle Golf, and Congo River Golf are all along Route 192.

3. ICON Park

ICON Park off International Drive is a fun place to spend a few hours. The ICON wheel takes you up 400 feet over Orlando. The Orlando StarFlyer is the tallest swing ride in the world. SeaLife Aquarium has sharks, jellyfish, stingrays and more. Madame Tussauds wax museum brings you face-to-wax face with Walt Disney, Taylor Swift, and more.

4. Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park

Tree Trek is a challenging obstacle course above the ground. There are four adult courses that increase in difficulty. At the end of your trek, you can take a long zip line ride. It’s best to visit when the weather is cooler than average.

5. Escape rooms

Escape rooms can be found all over, but my first time trying one was here in Orlando. There are several to choose from, including The Escape Game, America’s Escape Game, and The Escape Effect. There are varying time limits and levels of difficulty.

Today I went to Disney Springs before work to do some window shopping. Halloween merchandise is still available and there is a bit of construction going on.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is now playing at the AMC movie theater.

Over by the dine-in side of the theater, there’s a Maleficent poster photo op with wings.

Walls are up for the Beatrix restaurant.

Ample Hills Creamery will be coming to Disney Springs.

At Disney Style, I found this amazing Pizza Planet spirit jersey.

There are plenty of Toy Story items in case you’re visiting Toy Story Land.

This grape soda Ellie badge tank top is so cute!

This merchandise looks like it came from the 80s.

UNIQLO has a collection for Frozen 2.

The Pixar Vacation shirts are on sale for $5.90.

At World of Disney, there are plenty of Star Wars toys.

Here is some more Star Wars merchandise.

This matching rainbow outfit looks inspired by Magic Kingdom in the 70s.

This shirt and tank make a nice matching set.

Marketplace Co-Op has a cute new Pixar dress and a purse.

At the Christmas Shop, Christmas glasses and tumblers are available.

5 Things to Watch on Disney+ on November 12

The launch of Disney+ is less than a month away! Here are 5 things that I will be watching during November:

1. The Mandalorian

Starring: Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito

The Mandalorian is a live-action Star Wars series. The first season will have 8 episodes.

2. The Imagineering Story

Directed by Leslie Iwerks, narrated by Angela Basset.

This documentary series will cover the history of Walt Disney Imagineering. It will have 6 one-hour episodes.

3. Lady and the Tramp

Starring: Tessa Thompson, Justin Theroux, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong

This remake used real dogs to portray the title characters. I love most Disney films with dogs in them, and this will probably be no exception.

4. Noelle

Starring: Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader, Billy Eichner, Shirley MacLaine

Noelle Kringle, the daughter of Santa Claus, has to find her brother Nick and convince him to take over the family business before Christmas.

5. Forky Asks a Question

This series of shorts features everyone’s favorite Pixar spork as he learns more about the world.
